I’ve been a front-end developer for 25+ years, specialising in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript—web standards. I create responsive, user-friendly web applications that deliver seamless experiences across devices and browsers.
I used SvelteKit to built this site, learning my way through many burning hoops along the way. I have a good understanding of what not to do with it, which has equal importance with knowing what to do, in my experience.
After spending years working in UK Government digital services, I have a strong background in designing reusable UI components and documenting them effectively for use by development teams.
If it’s non-performant, it’s not accessible. Making sure a site or app loads fast, jank-free, and runs without incident is a key part of my development process, ensuring a better user experience for everyone.
I write documentation from the start of a project, iterating as I go, to ensure clarity and usability. My experience includes writing style guides, API documentation, user manuals, and books note 1 note 2.
